Downtown Exeter was illuminated Thursday night during the 25th annual Holiday Open House.

The event was one of the few times during the year that downtown Exeter was closed to traffic. Santa made an appearance for children and then hit the lights adorning holiday decorations.

A tree auction was also held to benefit needy children, and a trolley took shoppers around town.
