Ahhh! Pamper Yourself at Tranquility Salon

Tranquility Salon & Skin Care is ahead of the curve in several ways.

It offers Shellac nail products, which last two weeks without chipping, have no dry time, and don't damage nails. For hair, the salon offers Keratherapy Brazilian Renewal System, a formaldehyde-free straightening system that lasts up to three months.

Tranquility was recently certified as a green business for its recycling efforts. And its owner, Cathy Coulombe, is involved in too many community service efforts to count.

"Part of being a small business is trying to be as involved with your community as you can be," said Coulombe, who opened the salon about two years ago.

She has collected toys for Toys for Tots, volunteered at local schools, collected hair clippings for Locks of Love, and helped out at Exeter's Breast Cancer Walk and Hoiday Trolley service.

Her salon is located at 117 Water St. in the downtown business block. It occupies a huge, studio-style space that looks out to the Squamscott River, complete with clean brickwork, couches, and a fireplace.

Coulombe said customers love the inviting atmosphere.

The salon is currently offering several promotions, including a $45 mani-pedi combo with staff member Erin Gordon. There's also a $100-off promotion for the Keratherapy straightening system.
