Exeter 2013 Business of the Year Winners

An outstanding citizen award was also handed out.

The Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce recently named its 2013 "Business of the Year" award winners:

  • Education: Great Bay eLearning Charter School
  • Non-Profit: Exeter Rotary Club
  • Business Services: Leone, McDonnell & Roberts, P.A.
  • Tourism/Hospitality: Karimah’s Kitchen
  • Retail & Wholesale under 25 employees: Water Street Bookstore
  • Retail & Wholesale over 25 employees: Churchill’s Garden Center
  • Financial Services & Insurance: Optima Bank & Trust Co.

In addition, the chamber’s Exeter Area "Citizen of the Year" award was presented to Langdon Plumer, of the Exeter Lions Club. Plumer played an integral role in bringing the Seacoast School of Technology to the Exeter community.

He passionately petitioning at the state level for its funding, to helping establish the creation of the schools programming to serving as its principal for over 20 years.

Plumer exemplifies community spirit, kindness, local business practice and, the art of volunteerism is engrained deep within his soul. Plumber has also been involved in many other organizations and events including Site and Hearing Foundation: a division of the New Hampshire Lions Club, the Exeter holiday lights, Future Farmers of America and served for over 15 years on the Exeter Planning board. 

The Lori Breard Achievement in Leadership Award was presented to Pam Cameron of Better Homes & Garden/The Masiello Group in Exeter. Cameron, an active Chamber member and on the Board of Directors, was presented the award by Breard’s daughter Hallie Estle.

Pam Cameron was awarded the honor for her many attributes that epitomize the inspiration and example set by Breard. They include: a high level of professionalism, leadership, integrity combined with down-to-earth approach to life; a positive attitude; and active mentoring. Also, Cameron is a strong business leader and active community member

The 2012 President’s Award was presented to Murph Henderson and Past Board Chairman Jonathan Ring of Jones & Beach Engineers presented The 2012 Chairman’s Award to Allison Field of The Provident Bank. Both were recognized for their ongoing commitment to local business, the Chamber and the Exeter area community.

The 2013 Business of the Year Awards was presented by Baker Newman Noyes and additionally sponsored by Optima Bank & Trust Co.; Unitil; The Provident Bank; and Sheraton Harborside;. Plus Associate sponsors Natural Images by Allie; Party Time DJ and Chura Photogrpahy. Floral arrangements, décor and favors provided by Exeter Flower Shop; The Party People and Lindt & Sprungli.

The program is modeled after the state awards presented each May by Business NH Magazine and the NH Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives.
