Exeter Hospital Sued Over Hepatitis C Outbreak

A Newmarket woman is suing Exeter Hospital after contracting hepatitis C, the Union Leader is reporting.

The newspaper reported that the 61-year-old woman filed the lawsuit Thursday in Rockingham County Superior Court. She was reportedly treated at Exeter's cardiac catheterization department in February and the hospital recently informed her that she was one of the 20 people who have been infected thus far.

The New Hampshire Attorney General's office that it is looking into possible criminal charges against the hospital employee who is believed to have caused the hepatitis C outbreak.
