An Exeter memorial for a fallen Navy SEAL has been repaired after it was vandalized last year.
The stone memorial for Daniel Healy is located at the Exeter Recreation Complex. In July, police said someone smashed up a porcelain photo of Healy on the monument. It outraged the Exeter community, and a fund was set up to raise money to fix it. Hundreds responded, according to Healy's mother, Natalie.
Healy died in 2005 when his helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan during a mission to rescue fellow soldiers under fire. He was 36 years old.
Natalie Healy was devastated when she learned of the vandalism. A new engraved photo of her son was recently put up to replace the damaged one.
"We got an amazing response," she said. "It was incredible."
