Exeter's Russman Law, Solar-Powered

It's a first in town.

Attorney Ryan Russman said he can't count the number of people who have popped into his law office asking about its new solar array.

The array, which will provide all the electricity his office needs, was installed by ReVision Energy, which has an office in Exeter. It was the first solar array approved for the downtown historic district.

"It's a benefit for everyone," Russman said. "I don't have an electric bill anymore ... (and) it's an example. A lot of people stop by."

The array is prominently displayed in town, as the law office at is right across from the . You can't miss it if you're in the area.

The project was spearheaded by Ryan's father, Richard, who opened the office in New Hampshire in 1972.

The array is eligible for federal and state tax credits worth several thousand dollars.

"I don't know if we would have done it if we couldn't get the incentives," Richard Russman said. "It underscores the importance of having those things in place."

Julie Gilman, a selectman who works with the town's Historic District Commission, said the array will hopefully encourage other business to explore alternative energy.

There's already a solar array at , and another is going up at the town's on Newfields Road.
