Hassan Signs Pledge to Keep Gay Marriage

It was organized by an advocacy group.

Exeter's Maggie Hassan, a Democrat running for governor, recently joined an effort by a New Hampshire advocacy group to stop a repeal of the state's gay marriage law.

Hassan signed a pledge to uphold the law, which has granted marriage rights to over 1,000 gay couples, according to the group Standing Up For New Hampshire Families.

"I signed the pledge to oppose the repeal of marriage equality ... to prevent over 1,000 new families from losing their rights," Hassan wrote on her Facebook page.

New Hampshire lawmakers are expected to act on a measure next month that would do away with New Hampshire's gay marriage law, which was enacted in 2009.
