Joss Whedon Film to Shoot in Exeter Sunday
Whedon's credits include "Toy Story."
Exeter is going Hollywood Sunday.
The latest movie from filmmaker Joss Whedon will be filmed downtown all day.
Check back to Exeter Patch around noon Sunday for photos and a video of the action.
The independent film, "In Your Eyes," was written by Whedon and is being directed by Brin Hill. It will be filmed both in New Hampshire and on the West Coast. Exeter will be the first New Hampshire stop, followed by Manchester, Hooksett, Claremont, Bedford and Windham.
Matthew Newton, director of the New Hampshire Film and Television Office, said he hasn't received final confirmation on whether Whedon himself will be in New Hampshire, but he's guessing he won't be able to make it.
"It's not like he's directing 'The Avengers' or anything," Newton joked, citing Whedon's most obvious time conflict, the blockbuster superhero film slated for release on May 4.
Besides the 'Avengers' movie, Whedon is best known for helming the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly" TV shows, as well as the film "Serenity."
"In Your Eyes," starring Zoe Kazan, Michael Stahl-David and Mark Feuerstein, is described as a sci-fi/romance about two seemingly polar opposites who are deeply connected in ways neither could have imagined.
Stahl-David is best known as the lead in the 2008 J.J. Abrams film, "Cloverfield." Feuerstein is the star of the USA Network series "Royal Pains," and Kazan has appeared in films like "Revolutionary Road" and "In the Valley of Elah," and the HBO series "Bored to Death."
"We're thrilled the producers have chosen the Granite State as their backdrop," Newton said. "We have a number of great New Hampshire people working on the project, and I believe this is a testament to just how ideal a state like New Hampshire can be for independent filmmaking."
