Lost Hikers Rescued in Exeter

A mother and her two sons became lost in the Henderson-Swasey Town Forest.

Police rescued a woman and her two sons Monday night after they became lost hiking in the Henderson-Swasey Town Forest.

The trio started hiking at about 2:30 p.m., according to New Hampshire State Police. Sunset was at about 4:20 p.m.

The family was found by State Police Troopers Gary Ingham and Matthew Locke at about 8:20 p.m. Ingham's K-9 dog Grunt helped locate the family, who were uninjured.

The two boys were 11 years old and 4 years old, respectively. Police did not release their names.

The Henderson-Swasey Town Forest is located on Newfields Road next to the Public Works Department.

Police from Exeter and Newfields teamed up with State Police to conduct the search.
