Romney: 'Vote for Love of Country' [VIDEO]

Not taking NH's 4 electoral votes for granted, the presidential candidate with a second home in the swing state delivered part of a closing argument Saturday in Portsmouth.

Mitt Romney: "Vote for Love of Country" – The Republican presidential nominee spoke at a rally in Portsmouth, N.H., on Nov. 3, 2012, urging Republicans to get out the vote in 72 hours.

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – Mitt Romney returned to New Hampshire, where he officially kicked off his presidential campaign, aiming to shore up support and influence any undecided voters before the polls open Tuesday.

"New Hampshire got me the Republican nomination and New Hampshire's going to get me the White House," Romney said Saturday at Portsmouth International Airport at Pease.

As Republicans in the early morning crowd chanted, "Three more days, three more days, three more days," Romney urged them to make the most of those three days and encourage neighbors to support the GOP ticket.

In remarks that focused primarily on the economy, Romney compared his record with President Obama's first term.

"He said he was going to be the post-partisan president, but he's been the most partisan–dividing and demonizing," Romney said. "He said he was going to cut the deficit in half–he's doubled it. He said he would focus on jobs, instead he focused on 'Obamacare' that kills jobs."

The former Massachusetts governor said he also had a record of working across the political aisle, saying another four years for Obama would result in more Washington gridlock.

Romney's critique of Obama included the president's recent remarks that "voting is the best revenge." Instead, Romney said, "Vote for love of country."

WATCH the video of his remarks Nov. 3 in Portsmouth, N.H.

Romney was introduced by U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), the last of a gaggle of local speakers that included former U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg (R-NH), Republican gubernatorial nominee Ovide Lamontagne, and state Sen. Nancy Stiles, R-Hampton. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is among the Romney supporters campaigning in New Hampshire on Saturday.

The Romney event was the start of a 72-hour campaign blitz by both presidential candidates. President Obama, with Bill Clinton, is to speak Sunday in Concord. And Monday, less than 12 hours before New Hampshire polls open, Romney will speak at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, alongside Kid Rock.

Before Romney took the stage in Portsmouth to a popular Kid Rock song, supporters waiting to hear his closing argument spoke of his leadership. Margaret Roy, of Merrimack, cited his experience as a key to achieving economic growth.

"He's a complete package," she said. "Obama's been doing nothing but flailing and failing at running this country."

Tom Farrelly of Rye also cited Romney's business resume. "We need somebody who knows what's going on with business who's actually run a business," he said.

Brian Hawker of Portsmouth said Romney is presidential and had earned his vote after the debates. "I think he's finally got the momentum," he said.

Lis Smith, a spokeswoman for the Obama campaign, issued a statement in response to Romney's remarks:

"Mitt Romney can’t be trusted to work across the aisle as president because he’s never done it before. Despite his claims in the final days of this race, Romney refused to work with Democrats as governor. And throughout this campaign, he has shown himself to be too weak to stand up to the far-right wing of the Republican Party – whether it’s Grover Norquist, Richard Mourdock, or the architects of Republican obstruction in Congress. Mitt Romney’s proven he’s willing to say anything to win, but the American people understand Romney will never bring ‘real change’ – just the same failed policies that created the economic mess in the first place."

Emails blasts from the campaigns offer a glimpse of what the candidates will be hammering away at in the home stretch here: It's still all about the economy. In New Hampshire, the jobless rate is hovering at 5.7 percent, and the most recent unemployment report estimated 42,010 Granite Staters are out of work.

I saw Obama yesterday claiming the new job numbers are proof that his policies are working and that we are in an economic recovery... Fact is, that is not the truth, or even close to the truth...
First, the unemployment rate ticked up to 7.9% and the year-to-date monthly average of 157,000 payroll jobs is barely enough to keep up with population growth -- much less make up for the 8 million jobs lost during the Great Recession.
Second, the so-called real unemployment rate (U6) remains elevated at 14.6%, albeit down from 14.7% the prior month. Similarly, the labor participation rate is at 63.8%, up from its multi-decade low but still incredibly weak.
Third, average hourly earnings fell a penny in October and average hours worked fell to 34.4 from 34.5 in September.
Stagnant wages means "we're not generating income," Reinhart says. "That's a problem in terms of the durability of an economic expansion, which is usually fueled by consumption. To get consumption you've got to generate income."
Also, just look at your checkbook. We are paying a lot more for everything now than we did in 2008. The price of gas has doubled. At the same time, wages have gone down, and that's if you're lucky to have a job.
In 2008, 25 banks went out of business. In 2012, 48 banks have gone out of business. Almost double the amount. Does that sound like recovery to you? Don't believe the Obama lies!!

Thank you, President Obama for your many achievements, despite strong Republican obstructions:

+ Led the killing of Osama Bin Laden.
+ Improved US relationships with most allies.
+ Directed killing of several leaders of Al Qaida.
+ Implemented harsh sanctions on Iran.
+ Brought together coalition to remove dictator Gaddhafi from power in Libya.
+ Implemented Obamacare to provide healthcare for millions of people who previously did not have health coverage, and to mandate several health cost-cutting measures.
+ Ended the discriminatory Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy in the military.
+ Supports same-sex marriage.
+ Supports the equal pay act to provide equal pay for women and men.
+ Led the nation out of worst recession (gotten into by Bush) in many decades.
+ Implemented stimulus act to revive economy.
+ Ended war in Iraq, an unnecessary and unbudgeted war started by George W Bush.
+ Began drawdown of war in Afghanistan.
+ Passed necessary Wall Street reform to prevent future financial collapse.
+ Helped turn around auto industry.
+ And, much, much more!

Go Obama-Biden! Go Vote!

+ Directed...Al Qaida.(Again, Hillary)
+ Implemented...Iran.(half-measures, too little too late urged by CONGRESS)
+ Brought...Libya. (And lost thousands of weapons and a large vacuum--I am sure the Ambassador was grateful)
+ Implemented ...measures.(Against the wishes of American majority and with help of corrupt AARP)
+ Ended ...military. (Good work--but now has a new version of DADT on Benghazi)
+ Supports... marriage.(Thanks to Joe Biden I guess)
+ Supports...men. (As most people do but he doesn't actually employ it in his own administration)
+ Led ...recession (gotten into by Bush) in many decades. (NOT!! He has made it worse!)
+ Implemented ...economy. (Solyndra, A123, et al... the worst example of cronyism in US History)
+ Ended ... Bush. (couldn't even get a status of forces arranged)
+ Began ...Afghanistan. (leaving an Al Qaeda playground again)
+ Passed... collapse. (Too Big to Fail to support large banks and kill small ones)
+ Helped ... industry. (incorrectly and gave % to Italians...ultimately going to lose as much as $50Billion in unpaid loans)
+ And, much, much more! (900+ executive orders skirting democratic process)
++If Obama thought he inherited a mess, it doesn't even begin to compare to what he has left for Romney to inherit and fix!!
Go(Far, far AWAY!) Obama-Biden! Go Vote (Romney/Ryan!)!

How many people behind bars because of wall street reform?

Auto industry is in trouble in the US. Duh . big three are focusing on other markets for sales and manufacturing

As of Nov. 3, well-known statistician Nate Silver now gives Pres. Obama an 85% chance of winning the election. In the last three days Obama's chances have risen from 80.9% (11/1/12) to 83.7% (11/2/12) to 85.1% (11/312). Romney's momentum is now "nomentum" having ended last Oct 12. Since that time, Obama's lead over Romney has steadily increased. In 2008, Silver predicted 49 of 50 states correctly, as well as all 35 senatorial contests.

News Flash, you are right, there are no examples of Republicans exhibiting bipartisan cooperation at all. If there were, we would be paying down the deficit as we speak. Instead, because the Grand Bargain was supported by Obama and required shared sacrifice by middle class, poor, and wealthy Americans alike, the Republicans led by Eric Cantor replied with the only response they have - No.
The Republican party has decided that everything should be one way -their way, and have taken on the negotiation tactics of a 4 year old spoiled brat.
Should we reward that behavior and elect their candidate? Who, by the way is also acting like a 4 year old and telling lies and twisting the truth in such a way that if your kid did the same thing he or she would be in time out, grounded, and badly in need of a lecture on how and why it's a bad idea to be so untrustworthy.
Obama proposed a bipartisan way to start taking care of the deficit, to the tune of 4 trillion dollars. It's a fact. It was a fair compromise. Because he wanted it, the Republicans - except for a very few like Scott Brown and Richard Lugar- instead of doing what's right for America, said No. Their only goal was to make Obama fail, so they just said No. To anything bi-partisan, No. If it's not all our way, No. Like a 4 year old spoiled brat, No.

For Romney, the theme is "for the love of money"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G41r9IgHvhU

I have to wonder what any Romney voters are thinking. Who knows Romney better than anybody? How about the state who actually voted him in before, as Governor. So let's take a moment to look at how the only state who has any working knowledge about how Romney governs, is voting...

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/ma/massachusetts_romney_vs_obama-1804.html

The average of all polls, whether you believe some to be conservative or liberal leaning, still gives Obama a 20+ point lead. So my question is, why aren't more people paying attention to this? You can't shrug it off that it is MA and they always lean this way, because they voted Romney himself in as a Republican. The reality is that Romney can't even get close in this election in the only state that he has governed before, where the people actually know what you get if you vote for Romney. If he was the success that he pretends to be in MA, don't you think that he would be leading in MA or at the very least, have a close race going on there?

Not a bad editorial. The flaw in her thinking is the fact that Romney is Bush. He offers same "trickle down" junk we had for 8 years. The same junk we always hear from the GOP. Never changes.

He says he wants to cut everyone's taxes AND increase military spending AND eliminate the deficit - all at the same time. It's simply ridiculous.

She wants to fire the guy who's not cleaning up the last guy's big mess fast enough, and put in place a scoundrel who's said he's not concerned with 1/2 the country, and who has never taken the same position twice. A living caricature of a mendacious politician.

>I am hoping, praying, that should he be elected, Romney's experience
Romneys experience consists of getting government backed loans to bail out Bain and the Olympics, then using Bain to buy up the debt of struggling companies, merge them into larger companies, make them more efficient by getting rid of the extra employees and using cheap foreign labor to replace more American jobs, and then pass the savings onto investors, which in an early presentation he referred to as "harvesting profits".
Romey's idea of America is money to investors, jobs to China, if his past is any indication.
Romney requires on your hoping and praying, otherwise known as "faith", because he won't tell anyone what he is really going to do - which is an indication that we can't know what he intends to do. His and Ryans only answer to "how are you going to do all that?" is "Trust us".
His biggest problem is that he repeatedly says and does things to prove that he is not worthy of trust.

A heart of gold...

In 1997, Congress cracked down on a popular tax shelter that allowed rich people to take advantage of the exempt status of charities without actually giving away much money.

Individuals who had already set up these vehicles were allowed to keep them. That included Mitt Romney, then the chief executive officer of Bain Capital, who had just established such an arrangement in June 1996.

The charitable remainder unitrust, as it is known, is one of several strategies Romney has adopted over his career to reduce his tax bill.
