Obama: 'I've Got a Lot of Fight Left in Me'

The President made a final appearance in New Hampshire just two days before the general election.

A record-setting crowd of 14,000 people lined the streets in downtown Concord on Sunday to watch President Barack Obama make his final pitch to the state of New Hampshire,  and he made sure to send the message that he’s not going to give up in the next four years.

"I’ve got a lot of fight left in me,” Obama said to the raucous audience, which according to a report by WMUR was the biggest for a political event in state history. He implored voters that they need a “champion in Washington” who will battle for them.

“We have come too far to push back now", he said. “We need to keep pushing forward."

Obama referenced the post-Hurricane Sandy devastation in the tri-state area as a perfect example of Americans working together toward a common goal.

“We can help them rebuild," Obama said of the folks in New York and New Jersey. “That’s what we do as Americans. We’ve seen neighbors helping neighbors."

He referenced leaders of different parties working together following the natural disaster, saying that it is that kind of spirt that has guided the United States on its improbable journey for over two centuries.

Just two days before the general election, Obama’s Republican opponent former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney took plenty of shots. He slammed Romney for saying that the Democratic policies would not create jobs when President Bill Clinton was running for president in the 1990’s.

Obama explained that the Clinton administration created 23 million new jobs.

“We know our ideas work,” he said. “They created strong and sturdy ladders into the middle class for those that are willing to carry out their responsibility."

He called Romney a “very talented salesmen” who claims he is the candidate of change.

“Changing the facts when they’re an inconvenience to your campaign – that’s not change,” Obama said.

“Change is reducing our deficit in a balanced, responsible way,” he added.

Obama told the lively crowd that they need a candidate that they can trust, to which many of his supporters shouted back, “we trust you.”

Gesturing to his head, Obama told the audience that he has the scars and the gray hair to prove that he has fought alongside the American people for four years.

He championed the power of America’s free enterprise system, which he said only works if “everybody has got a shot.”

“Our fight goes on because we know this nation can’t succeed without a growing, driving middle class,” Obama said.

Former President Clinton introduced Obama, smiling at a sea of Obama/Biden signs when he said that he worked hard four years ago during Obama’s 2008 campaign, and he is even more enthusiastic in 2012.

“(Obama) has done a good job with a difficult hand,” Clinton said, adding that in contrast, Romney has simply told Americans to “be disappointed.”

Clinton called Obama a faithful commander in chief for national security who has taken care of those in the armed forces.

“He has fought the terrorists with vigor and he has pursued diplomacy with vigor,” Clinton said, joking that Obama has a pretty solid Secretary of State, a reference to his wife Hillary Clinton.

He also compared job growth during President George W. Bush’s administration to the last four years under Obama. Clinton said that Obama added five-and-a-half million jobs to the private sector in 33 months, while Bush added 2.6 million jobs in seven years.

He mocked Bush for referring to a president as “the decider-in-chief” for the American people, asking those in attendance if someone like Romney is the kind of decider in chief they want.

Clinton also traced back to 20 years and nine months ago, when he started his campaign to become president in New Hampshire.

“It’s no secret I never tire from coming here,” he said to loud cheers. “I like to talk to people. I like to be in a place where people can look you in the eye, size you up and know what you think.”

Obama was quickly out of Concord and on to three other appearances in swing states of Florida, Ohio and Colorado.

Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and Gov. John Lynch both spoke briefly about an hour before Obama and Clinton arrived.

Also in attendance were several N.H. candidates, including Maggie Hassan, Carol Shea-Porter and Ann McLane Kuster.

UPDATE: Michael Levoff, Romney campaign spokesman, offered comment after the rally:

“On Tuesday, Americans will have a clear choice between four more years of stagnation or four years of prosperity and opportunity. 23 million Americans are struggling for work and unemployment today is higher than when President Obama took office. With no rationale for re-election, President Obama has resorted to false, discredited attacks and a cynical closing message urging voters to choose ‘revenge.’ The people of New Hampshire, along with the rest of America, will choose Governor Romney’s optimistic vision for our country’s future and will vote for real change so he can get our country back on the right track.”

Yes, and that's despite unprecedented stimulus. Trillions from gov't and fed. I like Obama as a person and agree with many of his policies, but believe he doesn't understand fiscal matters. We are suffering from an enormous amount of uncertainty including uncertainties about future tax policies and future fiscal policies.

It's the "new normal". Anyone voting should undertand what that means. Just google that term. We are still deleveraging from a global debt bubble that burst. Blame Bush or Clinton. It doesn't matter. We need comprehensive tax reform (raising revenues) and comprehensive spending reforms (sorry, Obama, a 2-to-1 ratio won't scratch the surface).

Everyone do me a favor and watch this CNBC video:

http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=1604902615

Or do your own research by google CBO reports, etc. or check out
http://bipartisanpolicy.org/projects/debt-initiative/about

Why not ask? Mr. President: Why in the world did you push through Obamacare before focusing on jobs and housing? If urgent, why the 3 year delay in implementing? Why didn't Obamacare focus more on controlling costs vs insurance reforms (e.g., malpractice reforms (just reducing defensive medicine is a big deal), copay incentives, insurance competition, etc.)? It's 18% of our economy and impacts the rest. Why handled so poorly?

The New Hampshire unemployment rate was 5.0% at the end of April. It now stands at 5.7% as of the end of September (latest figure available).

That means that unemployment in NH increased 14% in just 5 months.

NH unemployment UP FOURTEEN PERCENT in 5 months!!!

I never want to hear that phony "Hope and Change" line ever again.

Vote for Romney and Ryan.

Wow! Incredible crowd! From WMUR: "The Obama campaign drew 14,000 people to an outdoor rally in Concord. That was the biggest crowd for a campaign event in Granite State history, the Obama campaign said. The prior record seems to have been the 8,500 people that Obama drew to an Oct. 27 rally in Nashua. Following that rally, WMUR political analyst James Pindell reportedly said it was the largest campaign gathering the state had ever seen.

Rosemarie- "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow", the theme song from the Clinton election campaign is played at the end of Obama appearance. Did they come to see President Obama or former President Clinton?

The Obama campaign’s use of Bill Clinton in their “return to the roaring 90′s” effort isn’t just rhetorical in nature — it extends to every aspect of the campaign, up to and including the choice of music.

Fox News senior White House correspondent Ed Henry describes the end of one such Clinton Obama rally:

Still waiting for detailed answers from Obama:
(1) What are your plans for comprehensive tax reform?
(2) What are your plans for entitlement reform?
(3) What are your plans for overall spending reforms?

Why these questions: See CNBC's "Are we rich or poor?" debate (worth watching):
http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=1604902615

When I google CBO's long term projections, the current system is unsustainable. I'm not sure about Ryan's plan, but no plan is terrifying.

http://bipartisanpolicy.org/projects/debt-initiative/about

Did I hear correctly during VP Biden's debate when he asserted: "Obamacare makes medicare solvent to 2024". Did he mean 2124? That's 12 years from now and based on likely rosey projections. What are their plans to reform to extend and strengthen? Why didn't he respond to "Why not raise the age over time gradually?".

And then there are several states likely to ask the fed gov't to bail them out along with their unfunded pensions.

Where will they get the money?

"During the Clinton years, we raised taxed yet saw growth", etc. Really? Let's step back and analyze. In the 90s:

(1) We saw a large increase in productivity and growth was spurred in 90s as a result of the Internet boom (and increased use of computers). In fact, such a boom it formed a bubble that popped in 2000 ("Dot Com Crash").

(2) The Republican Congress and Clinton implemented some important reform (e.g., Welfare) which helped the economy by increasing confidence and improving incentives.

(3) We face much much stiffer competition from global competitors.

(4) Higher ratio of entitlement recipients/workers compared to 90s.

(5) Global slowdown vs 90s.

(6) It's now the "new normal" after a 30 year credit bubble bursting. We are still deleveraging.

In sum, our circumstances today are much different compared to 90s.

I would add our goal should be to simplify our tax code. Remind people of the original purpose of the AMT and who it impacts now. Our tax code is too complicated and simplifying will spur the economy by reducing "rent seeking" and increasing certainty

Obama up in swing states in early voting:

http://news.yahoo.com/obama-seems-early-vote-lead-key-states-204705391--election.html

But I have to wonder what any Romney voters are thinking. Who knows Romney better than anybody? How about the state who actually voted him in before, as Governor. So let's take a moment to look at how the only state who has any working knowledge about how Romney governs, is voting...

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/ma/massachusetts_romney_vs_obama-1804.html

The average of all polls, whether you believe some to be conservative or liberal leaning, still gives Obama a 20+ point lead. So my question is, why aren't more people paying attention to this? You can't shrug it off that it is MA and they always lean this way, because they voted Romney himself in as a Republican. The reality is that Romney can't even get close in this election in the only state that he has governed before, where the people actually know what you get if you vote for Romney. If he was the success that he pretends to be in MA, don't you think that he would be leading in MA or at the very least, have a close race going on there?

So your only rationale is that the residents of MA have, in themselves, become so flawed in their own personal judgments, that this explains the polling on the presidential race. Even when they more recently filled Kennedy's seat with Republican Scott Brown and even his race is at least close right now.

Here is an idea. The next time that you are down in Boston, how about you pull up a barstool somewhere down there and share your vision of how flawed you believe the critical thinking is of people in MA. Then come back and let us all know how that worked out for you.

I am betting he didn't mention that we currently have 23 million people who cannot find jobs. So, the rationale for re-electing Obama in 2012 is that someone who has been out of office for a dozen years is taking credit for a lot of new jobs? Really? Seriously?

Your employers will have to pay the new taxes--not you. That is not good.

Obama’s Little Plan

Under pressure from Mitt Romney, President Obama has finally released his own policy vision for a second term. And yes, it’s the same old, same old. Some are calling it a second first term.

There isn’t a single true economic-growth incentive in this scant plan. There’s no serious spending, deficit, and debt reduction, and no attempt to solve the Social Security and health-entitlement problems, which are moving us toward bankruptcy.

Nothing. Nada.

But before getting into the details of this little plan, my basic conclusion is this: Mr. Obama wants to slash defense spending, raise all other spending, and hike taxes to finance the largest government size he can possibly get

The problem with Obama's 'revenge

My Examiner colleague Byron York has a splendid piece on how the Romney campaign capitalized on Barack Obama’s un-telepromptered remark Friday urging voters in Springfield, Ohio, that “voting is the best revenge.” Byron was at the big (30,000 crowd) Romney event in West Chester, Ohio, and in the crowd ran into Romney media maven Stuart Stevens. It seems that the Romney people heard the Obama speech on a campaign bus and quickly incorporated it into Romney’s speech later Friday in West Chester. “And today—did you see what President Obama said today,” Romney told the cheering crowd. “He asked his supporters to vote—to vote for revenge. Instead, I ask the American people to vote for love of country.”

You can tell Romney is losing and he knows it by the hail mary shotgun approach he's using, flinging etch-a-sketches all over the place in a desperate attempt to try to find something that will stick. The claim that Chrysler was going to move it's factories to China was probably the final nail in his coffin, along with his assertion that FEMA should be done away with at the exact time when FEMA is doing such a great job in the mid-atlantic.
Facts and reality are very inconvenient when they don't match the fantasy world that the Romney campaign has invented to try and hoodwink us into drinking the kool-aid.

Making no attempt to defend his record, he talks of what he “would” do in a second term.

In these last days of the race, Obama counts on the news of Sandy turning attention away from Romney’s October momentum, to photo-ops of himself in a monogrammed bomber jacket trying to look presidential. The more Benghazi creeps into the news, the stranger the silence from the Obama administration. But the real story is that almost all of the hope of 2008 has ended in the fear and loathing of 2012.

Patch existed for two years before it came to NH and many people registered for accounts on sites that they read because they grew up in that town, have family there, work there or even just wanted to comment on a story they found there and have absolutely no connection to the community. The DNC rules are that a voice vote can pass with 66% of the delegate approval -- watch the sound meters and decide for yourself if 66% voted for the amendment. 66% approval would be by definition with 44% non-approval. That would means the sound meter would show the bars as a half taller than the non-approval vote. You be the judge.

Limbaugh, host of "The Rush Limbaugh Show," told Newsmax on Oct. 31 that McCain would win Florida, Ohio, and Nevada. Asked if Obama would take the election, Limbaugh said, "No, I don’t see it...I think [Obama has] been dead in the water since the primaries. He is going to need to be up 10 to 12 points to win by 3 or 4.”

On his old Fox News show, "The Betlway Boys," Fred Branes called it for McCain on Nov. 3, comparing Obama to Walter Mondale and Michael Dukakis: "For the electoral vote," said Barnes, "I predict McCain squeaks out a win with 286 electoral votes. Mort gives the nod to Obama in a blowout, 379 to 159. Here are my reasons why I think McCain will win. Number one, doubts about Obama. We still don't know much about him at all. He's run as a guy that's going to brings us together. His senate record is one where he's the most liberal senator and he's one of the most partisan. Number two, we're a center-right country. He's a northern liberal. They usually lose. Remember Walter Mondale, remember John Kerry, Mike Dukakis."

Morris wrote in Real Clear Politics on Oct. 28 that McCain would win if he picked up undecided votes. "As Obama has oscillated," Morris wrote, "moving somewhat above or somewhat below 50 percent in all the October polls, his election likely hangs in the balance. If he falls short of 50 percent in these circumstances, a majority of the voters can be said to have rejected him. Likely a disproportionate number of the undecideds will vote for McCain." This year, Morris is predicting that Romney will win in a "landslide."

In an Oct. 28 column for Red State, Perrin laid out "seven serious, historic, demographic and other wise culturally compelling reasons" that the McCain ticket was "a lock to win." The first, wrote Perrin, "is the absolute arrogance, elitism, condescending, patronizing and in-your-face voter suppression campaign — don’t vote for McCain, he can not win — being conducted by the national media on Senator Obama’s behalf."

Under the headline "Why Obama Will Lose Today," Grenell wrote on election day 2008 on Huffington Post: "The mainstream media did everything they could to knock off Hillary Clinton in the Primary Election and John McCain in the General Election in order to help elect Barack Obama the 44th President of the United States. Fortunately, their attempt to convince the American people that the inexperienced and untested Junior Senator from Illinois was qualified to be President has backfired."

Writing in a New York Times column on Nov. 3, 2008, Kristol laid out a possible path for a McCain upset: "But what if John McCain pulls off an upset...It’s possible. What if the polls, for various reasons, are overstating Obama’s support by a couple points? And what if the late deciders break overwhelmingly against Obama, as they did in the Democratic primaries? McCain could then thread the Electoral College needle."
Kristol didn't exactly predict a McCain victory. He added that pulling it off would be "an inside straight," but said, "But I’ve seen gamblers draw them."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loBe0WXtts8

Next Tuesday is Election Day. Next Tuesday all of you will go to the polls, will stand there in the polling place and make a decision. I think when you make that decision, it might be well if you would ask yourself, are you better off than you were four years ago? Is it easier for you to go and buy things in the stores than it was four years ago? Is there more or less unemployment in the country than there was four years ago? Is America as respected throughout the world as it was? Do you feel that our security is as safe, that we're as strong as we were four years ago? And if you answer all of those questions yes, why then, I think your choice is very obvious as to whom you will vote for. If you don't agree, if you don't think that this course that we've been on for the last four years is what you would like to see us follow for the next four, then I could suggest another choice that you have.

Unemployment Rates Of Women Up Under Obama
The sluggish economy under President Obama has been particularly hard on women. Nearly six million are currently unemployed, more than 400,000 have lost their jobs, and poverty rates among women have soared to record highs.

Since Obama took office, the unemployment rate among women has jumped from 7 percent to 8.1 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Young women have fared even worse. Their unemployment rate has risen from 12.5 percent to 14.4 percent since 2009.

We all know how the Republican party's anchor to all their economic thinking is based on their trickle down theory, despite the fact that we saw that it didn't work when enacted under Bush. So what recently happened was that the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service did a study on this and their study found that there is no correlation between these policies and economic growth, so given that is 99.9% of what Romney is campaigning on, Republicans panicked and the report was buried.

Here is the article on it:

How much of this objectification of Obama as some sort of "other" are people willing to tolerate? The amount of racial and religious dog whistling in messages like this is unbelievable, with the soul intention to be tapping into people's prejudices. Is this how desperate Romney/Ryan have become, to be taping into the dark side of their voter base with saying things like this?

I can't break it down any more simply for people. Romney is a deceptive used car sales man. He will tell you whatever he thinks will get him what he wants. He tells the base that he is a extreme conservative and makes all the promises that the fringe extreme wants and then turns to the voters and says that he is a bi-partisan. These are not mutually inclusive positions. He is lying to somebody. Are you ready to risk if he is lying to you?

New income data from the Census Bureau reveal what a great job Barack Obama has done for the middle class as President. During his entire tenure in the oval office, median household income has declined by 7.3%.

In January, 2009, the month he entered office, median household income was $54,983. By June, 2012, it had spiraled down to $50,964. That’s a loss of $4,019 per family, the equivalent of losing a little less than one month’s
income a year, every year. And on our current course that is only going to get worse not better.
Even if you start from when the recession ended in June, 2009, the decline since then has been greater than it was during the recession. Three years into the Obama recovery, median family income had declined nearly 5% by June, 2012 as compared to June, 2009. That is nearly twice the decline of 2.6% that occurred during the recession from December, 2007 until June, 2009. As the Wall Street Journal summarized in its August 25-26 weekend edition, “For household income, in other words, the Obama recovery has been worse than the Bush recession.”
