Tea Party Debate in Hampton

It will be held next week.

The Granite State Patriots Liberty PAC announced this afternoon that it will hold a presidential candidates forum at One Liberty Lane in Hampton on Thursday, Nov. 10.

"Our members were disgusted with the debates being broadcast by the major networks," said Jerry DeLemus, chairman of the Tea Party group, "and so we set out to design a forum that would provide the viewer with a true look at the candidates."

The forum will run from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., and be moderated by Paul Westcott of WGIR-AM radio. Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Gary Johnson and Buddy Roemer will participate. DeLemus said it's possible that additional candidates may also take part.

The event was originally scheduled to be held at Exeter High School, but last month the group decided to . But Saint Anselm was double booked for Nov. 10, forcing the group to move the event to Hampton at the last minute.

The forum, which has been billed as a "constitutional conversation," will focus mostly on how the candidates views on the issues pertain to the U.S. Constitution, organizers said. The candidates will pair off in twos to engage in a conversation, allowing them time to address each topic in depth.

"Our intention is to provide a meaningful dialogue that is civil and dignified – allowing each candidate to display his or her most positive attributes," DeLemus said.

The event will be by invitation only due to the limited seating area. However, viewers will be able to watch the forum live on Granite Grok.
