One of the items Exeter voters will decide during the municipal election March 12 is whether the town should buy a new ladder truck for the fire department.
Article 24 on the ballot asks whether $107,250 should be spent as the first payment on a lease/purchasing agreement for a new truck. The truck's total cost would be $961,125.
Fire Chief Brian Comeau said his department needs the new truck because its current one is nearly 20 years old. It's the department's only ladder truck.

Most members of the Board of Selectmen recommend voters should approve the money for the new truck.
At a deliberative session earlier this month, however, Selectman Frank Ferraro said Comeau should consider refurbishing the current truck.

Comeau said the cost of repairing the current truck would be high. He added refurbishing the current truck would put it out of service, and noted that it's the only ladder truck in the deparment.
