The Exeter Brass Band opened its annual summer concert series Monday.

The band, conducted by Edward Flanagan, dates back to 1847. Members on Monday honored Carole Carville, who recently retired after 42 years as a drummer. Her sons Craig and Charles still play in the band.

The band will perform every Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the downtown bandstand through the month of July.
