Shea-Porter Statement on Debt Ceiling Vote

Today, Congresswoman Shea-Porter released the following statement following today’s house vote on the debt ceiling.

“The debt ceiling should not be tied to any political issue, no matter how desirable the goal may be.  The markets need to believe that Congress understands that the money was spent by the United States, the money is owed by the United States, and the United States will pay its bills and meet its obligations—no strings attached, and no temporary fixes.”

The debt ceiling vote s/b reserved for politicians that have common sense. OOPS that would exclude you from voting Carol.

This shows what CSP has accomplished this week. Nothing.

What??? You expect this puppet to accomplish something other than walking in Pelosi's footsteps and saying "Yes Ma'am, Yes, Ma'am, Yes, Ma'am" ?

No, Frank Guinta is "kinda a loser".

Carol Shea-Porter is a Congressional Representative.

A more responsible statement would have been to say that the Administration needs to cut entitlements and wasteful spending as they have committed too and that it should be regretful for the temporary fix!!

If it means borrowing more money, CSP's for it.
If it means spending more money, CSP's for it.
If it means taking more of your money, CSP's for it.
If it smacks of responsible fiscal policy, CSP's against it.

Hold a gun to the head of America's economy? Way to go, Republicans.

It's the most Republican thing I ever heard! Can you get any more Republican than that? Keep it up, Republicans. The English language needs a new dirty word. The old ones are growing stale.

@Stephen,
How about stop spending what you don't have.
I understand most Americans do it, but government should be more responsible and set an example.
Why is it too much to ask if I expect it of my self, that I expect it of my elected officials.
Aren't you the least bit ashamed of unabashed spending and trillion dollar deficits.
As this president said in the past of former President Bush, these budgets are unpatriotic!!
And we now make those former national debt numbers look like child's play!!

Were you supportive of or opposed to our (unfunded) wars-of-adventure in Afghanistan and Iraq?
