The American Cancer Society kicks off the 2014 Relay For Life of Greater Exeter

The American Cancer Society is excited to announce the change to the name of a local Relay For Life event. The local community fundraising event which was formerly known as Relay For Life of Exeter/Epping has officially changed to Relay For Life of Greater Exeter to more appropriately reflect the participation of residents of nearby towns. The new name provides a more accurate portrayal of the involvement of volunteers and participants from: Exeter, Epping, Kingston, Stratham, Newfields, Newmarket, Fremont, Raymond, Brentwood, Kensington, Seabrook, Hampton, and other towns.

Relay For Life is a community fundraising walk that allows participants to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. Teams raise money before and during the event to help fund cancer research and programs for cancer patients and their care givers. This year the Manchester Monarchs are kick-starting the event’s fundraising efforts. Everyone is welcome to attend their “Hockey for Hope” game on Saturday, December 28, at 7 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena at 555 Elm Street, Manchester. Tickets are only $20, and $6 of each ticket will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

There will also be a kickoff event taking place on Sunday, January 12 at The Rinks at Exeter, at 40 Industrial Drive, Exeter, from 4- 6 p.m. This is the second year The Rinks at Exeter has generously supported Relay For Life by hosting the kickoff event. Everyone in the community is welcome to stop by for a skate (public skate: 4:30- 5:50 p.m.), learn more about Relay For Life, meet participants and organizers, and take part in the drawings. The Rinks at Exeter will donate $1 from each public skate admission to the American Cancer Society.
