These days, advertising is everywhere: billboards, television, radio stations, you name it.

But advertising can also burn an enormous hole in your pocket, particularly if you’re a small business that’s just gotten its feet off the ground.

Recognizing the need for a more affordable option, Riverworks Printing is helping make advertising more efficient and affordable with their customizable, eco-friendly vehicle magnetics.

“We have seen a dramatic increase of vehicle magnet orders this year,” says Danis Chamberlin, Printing Manager at Riverworks. “I think many people forget how great magnets can be for business advertising but now they are realizing that instead of an expensive full car wrap they can still get their business name out there pretty effectively with a simple car magnet.”

Based in Greenland, Riverworks is the eco-driven, large-format commercial printing division of Wallshotz.com, a website that specializes in printing artwork and retail displays on various formats.

And while they also offer traditional format printing materials, Riverworks champions their eco-friendly products – high in quality and efficiency and low in environmental impact.

Riverworks’ magnetics are just such a sustainable product; all of them are produced using 15% post-consumer recycled material.  What’s more, used magnetics can be recycled, significantly reducing the amount of waste that customers would otherwise be contributing to a landfill.

In addition to their “green” features, the magnetics are also quite effective for advertising and promotion; according to Chamberlain, full vehicle wraps can be prohibitively expensive, especially for small businesses on shoestring budgets. As such, Riverworks Printing encourages the use of magnetics, not only for their cost efficiency but for their portability as well.

“The magnetics are made from the thicker .030 roll material. This is the proper weight to ensure greater adhesion while driving,” said Chamberlin, “Previously; magnetics have been known to leave serious marks on the vehicle finish when they are placed on the vehicle and forgotten. Most magnetic material is now made with a special coating to protect paint.”

According to Chamberlain, it’s important for businesses to follow a few simple steps for best performance. Which is why, with each sale, Riverworks provides a care sheet to help maintain the durability of the magnets and your car’s finish.

Sarah Brown, Director of Green Alliance in Portsmouth, believes that magnetics are a more logical way to advertise her business in, adding that she is now able to transfer her company's magnets between all of her family's cars, thereby allowing her and her husband to display the Green Alliance name wherever they go.

“When I was just starting the GA, I really didn't have the funds to spend on a custom wrap for my car,” said Brown. “But with magnets, you save so much money and they are easier to distribute if someone wants to support your business.”

Riverworks Printing is a green-certified Business Partner with the Green Alliance, a local green business union that specializes in promoting small businesses that are environmentally conscious, and supporting the green-minded consumers that want to do business with companies that care.

When the magnetics are ready to be recycled, Riverworks Printing brings their products to MetalWave, an e-waste recycling company and another Green Alliance Business Partner.

“Riverworks approached us through the Green Alliance and asked if we could work with them to help recycle some of the things that they could not,” said Tom Sousa, the Director of Sustainability at MetalWave. “We were happy to partner up another Green Alliance BP; it really helps all of us establish a sense of community.”

Riverworks Printing is making the effort to bring sustainability to businesses, big and small; they encourage business owners to think economically and environmentally, and are committed to reducing their carbon footprint by offering earth-friendly products and services.

And, as their home page states in no uncertain terms, they’re only moving forward: “We continuously educate ourselves on the development of new earth-friendly technologies and stream-lined shop procedures.  We always keep an open mind on how we can lessen our footprint.”
