Loaf and Ladle Building Sold

The downtown restaurant closed last year after more than 25 years in businesses.

The former Loaf and Ladle building downtown has been sold.

The waterfront spot at 9 Water St. closed in November. A sign in the window Monday said it has been sold.

The identity of the buyer was immediately unclear. Dorothy Milbury, the property's leasing agent, did not return phone messages and e-mails.

Owner Meredith Stolper operated the Loaf and Ladle for more than 25 years. After she closed the Water Street spot, she opened the "Loaf and Ladle Pantry" at 100 Domain Dr. at Bauer's headquarters. But that location closed last week.

"Thanks a lot for for the support and keep your eyes out but, yeah 2014 has to be better than this," read a posting on the restaurant's Facebook page.
