Loaf and Ladle Owner Owes $24K in Unpaid Taxes, Bills

The landmark Exeter restaurant has been closed for the last few days.

Meredith Stolper, the owner of the Loaf and Ladle restaurant, owes $23,602.12 in property taxes and water/sewer bills to the town.

The restaurant has been closed for the last few days, and it's unclear when or if it will reopen.

Stolper could not be reached for comment. She told the Union Leader she's trying to sell the restaurant, which was valued at about $256,000.

Last year, Stolper tried to raise $77,000 through an online fundraising campaign to remedy her financial woes. She ended up raising $11,280.

The restaurant has operated on Water Street for more than 25 years.
