Loaf & Ladle Doesn't Meet Fundraising Goal

Owner Meredith Stolper said she's exploring other ways to keep her restaurant open.

The future of Exeter's restaurant remains up in the air after a came up short.

Owner Meredith Stolper tried to raise $77,000 through the crowd-funding website Indiegogo by giving donors her recipes. She ended up raising $11,280. There were 248 donors.

Stolper said she was encouraged by the response and is pursuing other fundraising avenues, though she didn't go into detail.

Stolper, who has operated the restaurant for the last 25 years, said she turned to the community for help after being hit with several financial setbacks. The restaurant, located downtown on the banks of the Exeter River, flooded three times in 2010. Last year, it experienced .

The restaurant currently has a staff of 16 people.
