The Loaf and Ladle restaurant was closed Monday—a day that it's usually open.
The reason for the closure was unclear. A sign taped to the front door said "Closed today." Attempts to reach owner Meredith Stolper were unsuccessful.
The restaurant is normally open Thursday through Monday.
The restaurant has had financial problems. Last year, Stolper said her restaurant was in danger of closing and tried to raise $77,000 through an online fundraising campaign. She ended up raising $11,280.
The restaurant has operated on Water Street for more than 25 years.
