It appears the fight for the future of Market Basket has expanded beyond just the grocery store chain.
In recent days, Market Basket employees have been gathering signatures in an effort to save CEO Arthur T. DeMoulas' job, as the company's board is reportedly considering removing him. Workers fear his removal could lead to the company being sold off.
On Tuesday afternoon, a Save Your Market Basket petition was spotted on the counter at Stillwells Ice Cream in downtown Exeter as well, and several customers were seen signing it.
Market Basket operates about 70 locations in New England, including one in Stratham. Workers at a Market Basket in Portsmouth this week collected signatures for a petition.
