Salem, Hampstead Police Unions Endorse Grosky for Rockingham County Attorney

Officials say he is best to lead Rockingham County Attorney's Office.

The Salem Police Relief and Hampstead Patrolmen's Union are each endorsing Jason Grosky for Rockingham County Attorney.

"The Hampstead Police Union overwhelmingly supports and fully endorses Attorney Jason Grosky for the position of Rockingham County Attorney," said Detective Robert J. Kelley, president of the Hampstead Patrolman's Local Union Local 37.

Grosky, R-Atkinson, is the prosecuting attorney for the Salem Police Department. He previously served as an assistant district attorney in Lynn, Mass. Kelly said Grosky is a respected prosecutor with the experience to collaboratively work with law enforcement in taking on the increased drug and violent crimes occurring across the area.

"Jason's frontline, real world experience is a key component in order to understand and effectively prosecute these issues," he said. "Jason possesses the work ethic, experience, integrity and character that the office demands. We strongly encourage residents of Rockingham County to support Attorney Jason Grosky for County Attorney. He is an excellent choice."

In Salem, Grosky prosecutes cases for the busiest police department in Rockingham County. Salem's sole prosecutor, he handled 2,300-plus cases last year alone, more cases than the entire County Attorney's Office handled. In Lynn, he prosecuted a range of felony cases, many involving inner-city gang battles.

"Attorney Grosky is a hard-working, compassionate prosecutor who fights each day to make Salem a safer place," said Salem Police Relief President Steven Woidyla. "He has the right combination of common sense, dedication and ethics. He is well respected within law enforcement, the judiciary and defense bar, and we support the direction he wants to take prosecution in Rockingham County. He is a fighter for what is right and the best choice to rebuild our County Attorney's Office."

Grosky has never worked for the County Attorney's Office, making him the true outsider in the Republican race.

"I promise to change the way the office operates and do so without bias, without ties to the old guard or worry about how business has always been done," Grosky said of the office that's been cloaked in scandal since November. "I promise to restore credibility to the office, and ensure prosecutors and police are working together as one team."

Among Grosky's initiatives is to create a prosecutor-led training program for police officers, and create major drug, fraud and sexual assault units overseen by "expert" prosecutors.

He pledges to push for more treatment options for non-violent heroin addicts, re-focus attention on dangerous criminals, and expand the use of diversion programs and electronic monitoring.
