Ed Pease: Local Teacher, Coach Remembered

Pease died Saturday at the age of 48.

The following obituary is from Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home:

Edward J. Pease, 48, died unexpectedly January 25, 2014 at Exeter Hospital.

Born July 16, 1965 in Exeter, he was the son of Annette (LaBranche) Pease Brousseau and the late Chester J. Pease. Raised in Newmarket, he graduated from Newmarket High School, Class of 1984, and St. Joseph College, Rutland, VT, in 1988.

For the past 17 years, he was a special education teacher at the Cooperative Middle School in Stratham and for 5 years he taught at Newmarket High School. He coached the 8th Grade Girls Soccer Team, and many other soccer and basketball teams in Vermont, Newmarket, and Exeter. During his teaching career he helped with many food basket drives in both schools. He was also a mentor for the Kiwanis Builders Club at CMS.

He was an active member of the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 67 in Newmarket, where he served as head of the Children & Youth Program. He also volunteered for the annual MDA road toll, the roadside cleanup, and played Santa for the children.

Ed is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jeanne (Curtis) Pease of Epping; a daughter, Morgan Pease of Epping; his mother, Annette Brousseau and her husband Gene of Newmarket; a brother Roger Pease of Wells, ME; a sister, Alison Catudal of Newmarket; and a sister-in-law, Lisa Pease and her son Zachary of Rollinsford; aunts & uncles; and cousins, including special cousins, Joey & Kim Jean of Epping; brother-in-laws and sister–in-laws; and nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Mark J. Pease in 2005, and by his brother-in-law Robert Catudal in 2006.

Visiting hours will be held at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter Street, Newmarket on Thursday, Jan. 30th from 3 – 6 p.m. and on Friday Jan. 31st from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. SAL service will take place on Thursday at 6:15 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church, Main Street, Newmarket. Burial will be in the spring in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.
