Florence Pearson, Professional Violinist, Dies at 98

A service will be held Jan. 18.

Florence Pearson, a professional violinist, teacher and mother, died Dec. 3 in Exeter. She was 98.

She grew up in a family of seven on a farm in Garrettsville, Ohio, according to her obituary. She attended Wellesley College (class of 1937), where she majored in music and studied violin at the New England Conservatory. She attended Tanglewood in its inaugural season.

She taught at Shady Hill School, Phillips Andover Academy and Phillips Exeter Academy.

She leaves behind four daughters.

A service will be held Jan. 18.
