State Rep Dies Following Battle with Brain Cancer

Amy Perkins was just 43 years old.

State Rep. Amy Perkins (R-Seabrook) died on Monday following a year-long battle with brain cancer.

According to NHPR, Perkins was 43 years old and was serving her second term in the state Legislature. Her husband Lawrence "Koko" Perkins is also a state representative and deputy fire chief in Seabrook.

Gov. Maggie Hassan issued a statement Monday afternoon after receiving word of Perkins' passing:

"Tom and I are deeply saddened by the loss of Representative Amy Perkins," Hassan said. "It was an honor to serve with Representative Perkins in the Legislature, where she was a dedicated advocate on behalf of the Seabrook community and ably served the people of New Hampshire. Our thoughts and prayers are with Amy’s husband Koko, her family and her loved ones. She will be greatly missed."

The House Republican Caucus Tweeted that it was "saddened to learn Rep. Amy Perkins has lost her battle with brain cancer."
