David Kwiatkowski to Plead in Exeter Hepatitis C Disaster

Former Exeter Hospital worker David Kwiatkowski was charged with spreading his hepatitis C to 32 unsuspecting patients.

David Kwiatkowski, the former Exeter Hospital worker charged with starting a disastrous hepatitis C outbreak, will plead guilty to a host of charges, according to court papers filed Monday.

Prosecutors said Kwiatkowski, who has hepatitis C, shot himself up with patients' medication to get high. He infected 32 patients with his potentially deadly liver disease, according to prosecutors.

Kwiatkowski was a "traveler," a medical technician who worked at hospitals across the country. In addition to the Exeter victims, authorities said he likely infected dozens more patients.

U.S. Attorney John Kacavas called Kwiatkowski a "serial infector."

Kwiatkowski recently agreed to a plea deal where he admitted to seven counts of obtaining controlled substances by fraud and seven counts of tampering with a consumer product. He will face 30-40 years in prison.

He's scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Concord Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. for a hearing.

Court papers mention an interview Kwiatkowski had with authorities where he admitted to the scheme.

"It was all me," Kwiatkowski said. "I'm killing a lot of people."
