Exeter Firefighters Save House After Blaze

The fire early Tuesday morning consumed a barn.

Exeter firefighters early Tuesday morning prevented a barn fire from consuming a nearby house.

The fire broke out shortly after 1 a.m. at a residential property at 56 Beech Hill Road, according to Assistant Fire Chief Eric Wilking.

The blaze tore through the barn, which housed a woodworking shop. Firefighters had the fire under control in about an hour.

"The crews did a good job," Wilking said.

No one was injured.

Flames scorched some of the siding of a house on the property, Wilking said, adding the home was still habitable. A pickup truck near the barn was also damaged.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, Wilking said.
