Exeter Hospital Facing Another Hepatitis C Lawsuit

An outbreak infected 32 patients.

Exeter Hospital, already facing lawsuits from dozens of patients infected in a hepatitis C outbreak last year, was recently sued by the wife of one of the victims.

The woman contracted the potentially deadly liver disease through sexual contact with her husband, according to the Union Leader.

State health officials have said the transmission of hepatitis C through sexual contact is rare.

Authorities said the outbreak was started by former hospital worker David Kwiatkowski, who allegedly injected himself with patients' medication to get high. Kwiatkowski earlier this year agreed to a plea deal that could result in a prison sentence of between 30 and 40 years.
