Exeter Police Arrest Man on Child Porn, Indecent Exposure Charges

The accused is scheduled to be arraigned today at Rockingham County jail.

Exeter police have accused a man of possessing child pornography and indecent exposure.

Stephen S. Day, 26, currently of Indiana, was arrested and charged on one felony count of child pornography and one Class A misdemeanor count of indecent exposure on a child, police said March 25.

Exeter police took a report Aug. 10, 2013 from a concerned mother whose 7-year-old daughter indicated inappropriate behavior with her step-father, police said. During an investigation and interview with police, Day confessed to being a "collector" of child pornography and said he built his collection while stationed in Guam for the Navy, according to police. He told investigators he had deleted most of the pornography from his computer upon returning to America, but detectives found several photos of child sexual abuse images on his desktop computer, police said.

Day turned himself in March 25 and was held at Rockingham County jail ahead of an arraignment scheduled for March 26.

The New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Hampton Police Department helped with the case. Exeter Police noted that Hampton Police Det. Chris Gilroy performed the computer forensics and helped extract deleted files from the desktop computer.
