Fugitives in Child Abuse Case Coming Back to NH

Roland Dow and Jessica Linscott fled after Linscott's 3-year-old was treated for horrific injuries in Exeter.

A local couple caught after nearly two weeks on the run in a horrific child abuse case are coming back to New Hampshire.

Plaistow residents Roland Dow, 27, and Jessica Linscott, 23, were arrested this week at Universal Studios in Florida—more than 1,300 miles from their home.

The couple on Friday agreed to be transported back to New Hampshire to face a host of charges.

"Travel arrangements are being made and they will be transported to New Hampshire as soon as possible," said Rockingham County Attorney Jim Reams in a statement.

Dow is charged with first-degree assault for allegedly burning and battering Linscott's 3-year-old son earlier this month. Linscott is charged with multiple counts of misdemeanor-level child endangerment. Dow faces up to 30 years in prison.

Rockingham County Attorney Jim Reams said the couple could appear in a New Hampshire courtroom sometime late next week.

Reams said the arrest was the result of the public sending in hundreds of tips, the media highlighting the case nationally, and law enforcement agencies cooperating with each other.

Reams said police have a "suspicion" the couple had help evading authorities. He said anyone who helped the couple will be charged appropriately.

Linscott's son, James, is still hospitalized, recovering from serious injuries. Police said they discovered the boy's injuries after he was treated at Exeter Hospital Nov. 14.

Authorities spent "tens of thousands" of dollars in the hunt for the couple, according to Reams.

The pair have denied media interview requests since their arrest.

I think she is just as much at fault as Dow.

Trying to understand why Dow is consistently being named as the one that did the injuries to the little boy? How has that been determined?

Hi Kate, Dow has been charged with assault—police say he was the one who inflicted the injuries on the boy. Linscott has been charged with multiple counts of child endangerment, but not with directly causing the boy's injuries. —The Editor
