Lizzi Marriott's Body 'Could Be Anywhere'

NH Associate Attorney General Jane Young said prosecutors do not have enough evidence yet to charge anyone else in Lizzi Marriott's murder.

The lead prosecutor in the Elizabeth Marriott murder case doesn't anticipate any additional arrests unless new evidence surfaces during the investigation.

New Hampshire Associate Attorney General Jane Young said investigators are looking at all angles connected with the murder of the 19-year-old University of New Hampshire student, but they do not have enough probable cause to charge anyone besides Seth Mazzaglia, 29, of Dover, who faces a second degree murder charge.

"If we uncover additional evidence that gives us probable cause to believe that another person or persons is involved in this crime, then we would make additional arrests," Young said Wednesday afternoon.

According to authorities, inside of his Dover apartment on Oct. 9. When asked Wednesday about media reports that Marriott was involved in a sexual encounter with Mazzaglia at the time of her death, Young said, "We have no comment."

Mazzaglia was ordered held without bail at the Strafford County Jail in Dover during his arraignment for second degree murder in Dover District Court on Monday. According to Young, the victim and Mazzaglia knew one another, but were not involved in any kind of relationship.

Mazzaglia, who is an actor and practices karate, according to his website, is due back in Dover District Court for a probably cause hearing on Oct. 29 at 10 a.m.

Meanwhile, Young said the Coast Guard and New Hampshire Marine Patrol enjoyed excellent conditions to search for Marriott's body in and around Portsmouth Harbor. She said four New Hampshire Marine Patrol boats used two sonar and two underwater cameras beginning at 6 a.m. on Wednesday to resume the search around the Peirce Island lookout area and other areas of the Piscataqua River.

She said a state police helicopter continues to fly overhead to do a surface and shoreline search. As she said on Monday during a press conference in Dover, authorities will continue the search for Marriott's body as long as possible.

"At this point, it (Marriott's body) could be anywhere," said Young. But she said the search continues to be focused near the Peirce Island area based on the knowledge and experience shared by New Hampshire Marine Patrol, New Hampshire Fish and Game and the Portsmouth Police and Portsmouth Fire departments about the river's characteristics.

When asked if the court documents and police affidavit connected with Mazzaglia's arrest will be unsealed anytime soon, Young said a few media groups have filed legal challenges to unseal the court documents and the New Hampshire Attorney General's office has 10 days to respond.

Young said the reason Dover Police and the New Hampshire Attorney General's office want those documents sealed is because they are still conducting an active investigation to learn more about the circumstances surrounding Marriott's murder.
