Mother Sentenced After Child Found Burned, Beaten in Exeter

A local mother was sentenced to up to seven years in prison after her child was found with horrific injuries at Exeter Hospital last year.

Jessica Linscott, 24, of Plaistow, pleaded guilty this week to several counts of child endangerment, according to the Union Leader.

Prosecutors said her boyfriend, Roland Dow, who was then 27 years old, burned and beat Linscott's 3-year-old son, James, so badly that the boy was temporarily blinded. Exeter Hospital doctors discovered the boy's injuries and alerted authorities in November.

Dow and Linscott fled the state and were captured nearly two weeks later at Universal Studios in Florida.

Dow was charged with child abuse. He's expected to go on trial later this year, the UL reported.
