Authorities: Beaten Plaistow Boy Released from Hospital

Authorities said he was beaten and burned by his mother's boyfriend.

A 3-year-old boy at the center of a high-profile child abuse case is recovering from his injuries.

Rockingham County Attorney Jim Reams said Wednesday the son of 23-year-old Plaistow resident Jessica Linscott was released from the hospital, about three weeks after he was admitted.

The boy, James, was from abuse at the hands of Linscott's boyfriend, 27-year-old Roland Dow, according to authorities.

It was not clear Wednesday who had custody of the child. Maggie Bishop, director of the state Division of Children, Youth, and Families said she couldn't comment on the case because of privacy laws.

The boy's injuries were discovered when he was brought to Exeter Hospital Nov. 14, police said. Doctors alerted authorities because of the severity of his injuries.

Dow was charged with first-degree assault and faces up to 30 years in prison. Linscott was charged with several counts of misdemeanor-level child endangerment. The pair fled New Hampshire when police moved to arrest them and were captured nearly two weeks at Universal Studios in Florida.

Dow and Linscott are being held on high bail pending separate court hearings later this month. They both told a judge that they couldn't afford to bail themselves out.
