Tom Reid, Deputy County Attorney, Resigns

Reid and County Attorney Jim Reams were suspended in November after allegations of sexual harassment.

Deputy Rockinham County Attorney Tom Reid has submitted his resignation.

Reid and County Attorney Jim Reams were suspended in November after allegations of sexual harassment. Reams has maintained his innocence.

Attorney General Joseph A. Foster released the following statement Friday:

"Tom Reid has informed us that he has submitted his resignation as Deputy Rockingham County Attorney. Mr. Reid was not the target of a criminal investigation and our investigation has not revealed any evidence that he engaged in any criminal conduct. Mr. Reid has cooperated during our investigation, and we anticipate he will continue to cooperate with our ongoing investigation."

After his suspension, State Rep. Laura Pantelakos (D-Portsmouth) told Patch female employees in Reams' office faced a "hostile work environment." Pantelakos said the conditions did not rise to the level of sexual harassment.

Reid was the second person in Reams' office to resign. Victim Advocate Tara Longo resigned earlier this month, according to Foster's Daily Democrat.
