Exeter School Workers File Unfair Labor Charges

The School Board recently voted to reduce workers' hours.

The Exeter Cooperative Paraprofessional Association has filed unfair labor practice charges against the school district after the School Board reduced workers' hours.

In June, the board reduced the hours of full-time paraprofessionals from 35 hours to 32.5 hours to cover a budget shortfall.

The association filed a grievance with the state's Public Employee Labor Relations Board seeking to overturn the reduction in hours.

In the grievance, the association said the reduction means employees are no longer eligible to participate in the state retirement system.

"This is a devastating blow to the pensions of these employees," it said.

A copy of the grievance can be found in the photos above.
