Local Preschool Teacher Honored

Carla Ranks, a preschool teacher for 33 years, was chosen to receive the Eustis Award.

Longtime Seacoast School of Technology teacher Carla Ranks was recently honored by school district officials.

Ranks was chosen to receive the annual Eustis Award, which recognizes teachers for their positive influence on students and staff.

Ranks has been a preschool teacher for 33 years.

"She has devoted herself to sharing her love and knowledge of children with her students," according to her award statement.

Stacey Jordan, a fellow preschool teacher, wrote this commendation of Ranks:

“As a student in her Early Childhood program at SST, I was inspired by her to become the teacher that I am today. During my senior year, she gave me direction to pursue my dreams. She treated each of her students with dignity. Her values have remained the same, and she continues to give her students the confidence they need to achieve success. Carla Ranks certainly embodies everything that the Eustis Award represents and I can’t imagine anyone who would be more deserving of the recognition.”

The award is named after Joan and Dick Eustis, who spent a combined 53 years in teaching, coaching, and administrative capacities in the school district.
