Coach Katey Stone graduated from the school in 1989, and defenseman Kacey Bellamy in 2009.

Two University of New Hampshire graduates won Olympic silver in Sochi on Thursday as the U.S. women's hockey team lost to Canada 3-2 in sudden-death overtime in the gold-medal game.

It was a heartbreaking loss for the U.S., which led 2-0 and then 2-1 before the Canadians tied the score with just 54 seconds left in the third period. The Canadian team then scored a power play goal in overtime for the victory.

Coach Katey Stone is a 1989 graduate of UNH, and defenseman Kacey Bellamy graduated from UNH in 2009. The women's hockey team hasn't won gold since 1998.
