I have been going to this jeweler for 20 years and up until now I've never had a problem. I brought a new setting in to have my cherished diamond put into. His friendly staff said she didn't think Mario would put the diamond in that setting. I told her that's why I was bringing it to them, for their professional opinion. Two days later they called and said Mario would put the diamond in the new setting. I trusted his professional opinion and agreed to have the work done. Five days after getting the ring back, the diamond fell out and I've lost it forever. When I brought the setting back to show him, he said the setting was flimsy and a piece of junk. He asked all his staff, "Where did she get this piece of junk" and I was at fault for the loss. I asked him why he didn't tell me that? Why did he put my diamond in the setting if he knew it was a piece of junk. I am not a jeweler and I wouldn't know that. That's why I asked for his professional opinion. Why put your name on a piece of work if you know it's flimsy. Further, he said a 1/2 karat diamond means nothing to him (all of this said in front of his staff). Well, it may not mean anything to him but, it meant the world to me. I'm just a working class person who can't afford all the finer things in life but, I cherish what I have. Don't belittle me for that. I was truly insulted by this man. It was a flimsy setting by his admittance but, he had no problem taking my $125.00 to put the diamond that meant nothing to him in it.
