Probe Ongoing in Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Exeter

A 20-year-old from Exeter was killed.

An investigation is ongoing into a fatal motorcycle crash in Exeter last week.

Chris Buxton, 20, of Exeter was killed when he fell off his motorcycle on Watson Road near Stonewall Way. He hit another vehicle driven by an Exeter woman.

Buxton was not wearing a helmet, police said. Capt. Bill Shupe said investigators are trying to figure out how Buxton fell off his bike.

The crash happened in a residential section of Exeter near a sharp turn.

A roadside memorial for Buxton was set up with a cross, flowers, pictures, and messages from loved ones.

Buxton graduated from Exeter High School in 2010, according to his obituary.

He worked in the parts department of JR Rosencrantz & Sons in Kensington. He loved extreme sports, his obituary said.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brewitt Funeral Home in Exeter.

The driver of the other vehicle was Amy Thompson, 34, of Exeter. She was uninjured, police said.
