Plan for New Exeter Restaurant Approved

A plan for a new restaurant on Court Street moved ahead Tuesday.

Yvette Kuzirian, owner of Kingston-based Alouette Catering, wants to expand her business by building a restaurant at 115 Court St. in a residential area. She said it will be a small, country-style restaurant serving meals like meat loaf, pot roast, prime rib, and French onion soup.

"Everything is made from scratch," Kuzirian told the Zoning Board Tuesday. "I want to make people happy, basically."

The Zoning Board approved her plan Tuesday, on the condition town planning staff review aspects like parking, lighting, and the placement of a Dumpster to minimize impacts on neighbors.

Kuzirian said she would not serve beer or wine.

The site of the restaurant used to be a cooking school. Before that it was a copy center.

Kuzirian said she will have the site landscaped and the building painted.

"It's going to look beautiful inside and out," she said.

One neighbor had concerns about lights shining into her home, while another was concerned about the placement of a Dumpster.

Kuzirian said she has plans for 10 to 12 tables and a takeout counter. The restaurant would be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., six days a week.
