Police Called to Exeter High Dance

Two students were charged with alcohol possession and another was hospitalized.

An Exeter High School student dance was shut down Friday after police said they found students with alcohol and possibly drugs.

Two students—a 17-year-old girl from East Kingston and a 17-year-old boy from Hampton—were charged with alcohol possession, according to Sgt. Jeffrey Butts. Another girl was also hospitalized.

Butts said there was evidence of drug use. He said the matter is still under investigation and added more students could be charged.

Principal Sean Kiley shut the "March Madness" dance down after the alcohol was discovered, Butts said.

School officials have tentatively canceled the rest of the dances for the school year—except the junior and senior proms, according to Butts.
