Big Water Main Break Cuts Service, Blocks Traffic
Water is expected to be out for most of the day.
A large water main break at the intersection of High Street and Hall Place is causing traffic problems in downtown Exeter this morning.
Exeter Police reported the water main break on Twitter at 7:17 a.m., urging motorists to avoid the Water Street, High Street, Great Bridge and Portsmouth Avenue areas.
The Department of Public Works also just posted a message on its Facebook page saying that water is expected to be out for most of the day in the Hall Place and High Street area. Anyone with questions can call the DPW office at 603-773-6157.
The Portsmouth Avenue detour scheduled to start today has now been delayed until Thursday due to the break. Police are telling motorists to expect delays all day today.
